about THE globe theatre
A handful of the theatres in the city of London come with a historical background. A few commonly known theaters are: Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, her Majesty's Theatre, and a variety of other well known places. Though not having changed physically throughout the years, Her Majesty's Theatre took change in its names, going from Queen's and King's Theatre to other various choices. Furthermore, not located in central London, but Southwark, The Globe Theatre was built in 1599 and owned by multiple actors who also played the role of being shareholders. It was burned down in 1613 and renovated by June 1614, causing the theatre to remain closed until 1997. The story behind the incident involved no hidden intentions, but was in fact a mere accident. A fire was set ablaze during the showing of Henry VIII, where a theatrical cannon was misfired causing injury to only one man.The second Globe Theatre closed in the year of 1642 and was reconstructed in 1909, allowing it to feature modern day theatres. When rebuilt and opened in 1997, The Globe Theatre has always been a phenomenal site for tourists to visit.
